NCND welcomes the participation
of your organisation in its programme to document and disseminate knowledge
about system, policies and programmes. The membership of your organisation
would be mutually valuable and you can avail of any or all of the services
provided for a nominal sum of RS. 1000 per annum.
NCND also undertakes the preparation
of tailor made research, project proposals, appraisals, production of
video or T.V. scripts and cassettes as well as print and design work.
The number of members will, regretfully,
have to be limited to ensure that quality and not quantity remains the
priority. Hence, we would request you to kindly respond as soon as possible,
with a brief information about your work, aims and requirements.
With the launching of the NCND we
hope to initiate a much needed linkage between and through this network
advocate on behalf of the disabled.
ONE OF
SAMADHAN'S DREAMS IS SETTING UP DRAMA THERAPY CENTRE IN INDIA
At this time there is no recognised
training program in India either for the mentally retarded and other
disabled persons using drama as therapy in a structured and regularly
administered curriculum nor for the training of Drama Therapists Our
main goals are therefore:
- To give opportunities to those
with an interest in the Therapy to utilize it in work with children
and adults with mental disability.
- To hold regular five day week
programs offering drama therapy to those who will benefit from it.
Presently we envisage beginning with a single disability group, the
mentally retarded but will gradually expend to all disability groups.
- To explore the possibilities
of the Indian art forms of dance (the mudras) movement (Chauu for
example), music and rhythm, masks and their use for specific dramatic
message (Kathakali) as a viable media for Drama therapy & to transfer
it into the Indian idioms using appropriate art forms.
- Organize regular training workshops
for parents, workers in the field of disability and others who are
motivated and involved in this area of work.
- Publish the activities of the
Drama Therapy program as a guide for others who may want to conduct
similar programs.
