 ‘Inclusion’ refers to the opportunity for persons with a disability to participate fully in all of the educational, employment, recreational, community and domestic activities that typify everyday society. In an effort towards the inclusive philosophy we have started working with local schools run by the Delhi Government and have held workshops about the concept of inclusion. Both children with and without disability attend our inclusive education unit in Dakhinpuri. We have sustained interaction with local MCD schools and private schools to enable a smooth transition of intellectually disabled and other disabled children from our Inclusive Education Unit into mainstream schools. There are 26 children and 3 teachers in our inclusive pre-school at Dakshinpuri. Its outreach strategies are targeted to meet these specific issues. Our survey workers along with their routine awareness campaign, inform the parents and elders in the household about the inclusive preschool and motivate them to send their children to come to our preschool. Samadhan follows a relevant curriculum and teaches functional lifeskills which is another factor that motivates the parents to send their children to the school. The student-teacher ratio at Samadhan Preschool is 1:8. The teachers are from the local community and are trained in-house with a specially designed curriculum. |
All donations to SAMADHAN are exempted from Income Tax Under Section 80G of Income Tax Act.
